Clairgustance is the intuitive sense of taste. Though less commonly discussed, it involves experiencing tastes without consuming anything physically. Often interpreted as receiving intuitive or spiritual information through the sense of taste.
People who believe they experience clairgustance describe things such as:
Suddenly tasting something sweet, salty, bitter, or metallic when nothing is in their mouth.
Associating certain tastes with a person, place, or situation.
Experiencing a taste during meditation, prayer, or other spiritual practices.
Ready to start exploring and experiencing!
Practice mindful sensory awareness. Spend time intentionally noticing flavors during meals. This strengthens your ability to distinguish subtle tastes and can help you separate ordinary sensory experiences from unusual ones. Intention is an important key for developing this gift.
Keep a journal. If you experience unexpected tastes, note:
The date and time.
What you were doing.
The taste itself (sweet, metallic, bitter, etc.).
Any emotions, memories, or thoughts that accompanied it.
Whether there was a possible physical explanation (food, medication, dry mouth, etc.).
Look for patterns cautiously. It's natural to notice coincidences, so be careful not to assume that every unusual taste has special significance. Over time, your notes may reveal whether there are consistent triggers.
Use critical thinking. Before attributing an experience to something paranormal, consider common causes such as lingering food flavors, medications, dental issues, reflux, sinus conditions, or changes in smell (which strongly influence taste).
As part of a spiritual practice and developing intuition, some traditions recommend meditation, grounding exercises, and reflective contemplation. These practices can increase awareness of internal and intuitive experiences.
Have fun with expanding your intuition in this less common intuitive ability. It's an amazing additionally sense to add when you're working on becoming psychic.
